VEHICLE DESCRIPTION
Generally
The first Porsche 911 was unveiled on September 12, 1963, at the IAA in Frankfurt as the successor to the Porsche 356. Initially presented as the Porsche 901, Peugeot asserted its trademark rights at the Paris Motor Show in October 1994, prompting Porsche to react and produce the sports car under the name 911. Only 82 vehicles were built up to that point. The sports cars from Zuffenhausen were powered by a 2.0-liter, 6-cylinder boxer engine, producing 130 hp, located in the rear. The Porsche 911 SWB (Short Wheelbase) is a very early model, as evidenced by its chassis number. Between 1964 and 1967, just over 6,600 vehicles were produced at the Zuffenhausen plant.
History
The Porsche 911 was first registered on May 13, 1966, to its owner, a businessman from southern Germany. The original vehicle registration document is still available and is part of comprehensive documentation. The Porsche 911 was taken off the road on November 14, 1975, as the sports car had since been registered to the owner's company, although he only drove it occasionally. Before its re-registration on April 24, 1998, the Porsche Center Hegau-Bodensee carried out an extensive restoration. Nearly DM 50,000 was invested in the car after its long period of inactivity to bring it back to perfect condition. Following the almost five-month restoration, the owner transferred ownership of the vehicle to his son, who then also managed the company and registered the Porsche 911 in his own name. This vehicle registration document is also still available and shows the transfer to the son. Unfortunately, he too rarely had the opportunity to drive the Porsche extensively and transferred ownership to his son-in-law, who finally took possession of it on December 28, 2004. To this day, the car remains in the same family and is in excellent condition.
Special features
Besides the exceptional condition of this light ivory Porsche 911, it is above all its history that makes this sports car a unique collector's item. The vehicle tells its own story of an entrepreneurial family from southern Germany. The Porsche owes its extraordinary condition not only to the meticulous care within the family but also to a perfect restoration in 1998, which was carried out specifically at the Porsche Center Hegau-Bodensee, where the car was originally delivered in 1966. The original restoration invoice for nearly 50,000 DM is available, as are numerous service invoices, which also confirm the mileage of under 88,000 kilometers. Furthermore, the stamped Service Booklet I and Service Booklet II are present, as are all owner's manuals and the instructions for the sunroof. The original cardboard vehicle registration document from 1966, the "old" vehicle registration document from 1998, and the current vehicle registration document from 2006 provide unambiguous proof of the car's ownership history.
Equipment
The Porsche 911 was ordered in 1966 at the Porsche Centre Hegau-Bodensee in light ivory with a black leather interior. A radio and a sunroof were also requested, although the available options were very limited at that time.
